Online Academy

A curated curriculum for your creative, curious thinkers

Homeschoolers excel at finding great resources for their students to thrive with. If you’re anything like me though, the beginning of your year starts out full of enthusiasm and great plans. Then after a month or two (or earlier even), things start getting out of hand. Then the winter slump comes. In February, you’re reconsidering whether homeschooling is right for you.

Homeschooling is a great fit for many families, especially neurodivergent (ND) ones. But wouldn’t it be nice to have someone else deal with the WHAT of the schooling? 360 Citizens Academy wants to do just that. Led by a licensed teacher, students will participate in multi-disciplinary lessons that cover all of the core subjects. Our goal is to ensure students receive a well rounded education that is engaging but also prepares them to understand and participate their future adult life.

How does the academy work?

Academy classes are designed for students in grades 3-8. Once each student is registered, they will receive an academy email address. The student will be set up in each of the programs they need and be able to view their weekly assignments in Canvas. Parents and caregivers will also be able to use Canvas to access academy and class information through our parent cafe. All work is asynchronous (no live classes) and a blend of online work and printable materials. Students will be able to discuss assignments and ask questions within the Canvas platform. Office hours and parent meetups will be held at regular intervals for support and to build community.

What are the classes that are included?

We firmly believe that the best education is fueled by a solid foundation in the 3 R’s – reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic (math). Students will have quarterly math objectives, and develop their language arts skills while incorporating science and social studies.

Math: We intend to build confident mathematicians with extended focus on understanding the basics. There are whole group resources and individualized assessments and learning so students can work at their just-right pace. Our primary tools for math are Zearn, Education.com, Times Tales, and Prodigy. Online resources, interactive games and worksheets, and printables will all be a part of your student’s success team.

Language Arts: Reading and writing tools will help your learner be able to communicate and comprehend effectively. Each month, there will be an integrated language arts and science theme. For example, September’s Language Arts theme is Sentences and the Science theme is Light. Students will have daily journal prompts and articles, as well as practice their grammar skills with ReadWorks article-a-day and Quill. Social Studies (focused on equity and economics) will be integrated with the monthly novel study. Our first novel is “A Wish in the Dark” by Christina Soontornvat and focuses on our topics of family (social studies) and light (science). As often possible, these 3 subjects will be taught together to strengthen student interest, knowledge, and comprehension.

Students have the option to learn to type with Typing Club, a highly recommended typing program and we have cursive practice printables available.

Pricing

Our goal is always to be a reasonably priced resource for our families. There is a one-time $50 family registration fee for new families. Families with up to 3 students pay $60 per month; up to 6 students pay $100 per month; families with more than 6 kids should contact us directly. Pricing is per family, not per student. Cancel at any time with no further payments due. In addition to the classes, each student actively participating in the last three months of the year (March through May), will receive a Virginia proof of progress evaluation letter.
