Our World: Current Events and Social Studies (Younger)

About Course
Every week, learners will get together, listen to a brief news update, and discuss current events. Learners will be encouraged to connect new information to background knowledge and historical perspectives, as well as tune in to their own local news and information. This class promotes critical thinking and empathy and helps learners understand their place in the world.
Classes will meet once a week on Thursdays from 130 – 230 PM, EST, starting 9/22/22.
What Will You Learn?
- Students will learn to think critically with the 5W's (who, what, where, when, and why) and sometimes an H (how). Students will have the opportunity to practice turn-taking and perspective-taking. Students will also increase their capacity for empathy.
